My Textile Adventures with Mary Gamester 10/6/19

If you ever needed any inspiration to travel to far flung places then look no further than our speaker today Mary Gamester!

Having travelled extensively to India, Uzbekistan and Vienna Mary has been influenced by the textiles and designs that she has seen and bought.

In this technique fabric is laid on top of the base fabric and stitched in place with decorative stitching.

The chain stitching detail on this jacket was just amazing!

These incredible fabrics are tie dyed with the tiniest of dots.

Indian puppets in beautifully adorned outfits, mirror work and a stunning umbrella to ward off the sun.

 Mary wore this longline jacket and trousers suit on the cat walk at The Festival of Quilts.

Our members were kept busy trying to work out how to open this intricately carved box, with only a couple of them working it out. 

 Mary bought the piece on the right and made her own version on the left.
